Today's guest is Kai Bird, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and author of American Prometheus, which is the biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer that the blockbuster Christopher Nolan film was based on. Kai Bird
Kai Bird is a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and journalist. On July 21, 2023 Universal Studios released a major motion picture, Oppenheimer, based on American Prometheus, the biography Bird authored with the late Martin J. Sherwin.
He is the author of The Chairman: John J. McCloy, The Making of the American Establishment and The Color of Truth: McGeorge Bundy and William Bundy, Brothers in Arms. He co-edited with Lawrence Lifschultz Hiroshima’s Shadow: Writings on the Denial of History and the Smithsonian Controversy. A contributing editor of The Nation, he lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife and son.
